Advancing the pace of research through AI

Join Wiley AI Partnerships: A Co-Innovation Program to develop cutting-edge AI applications that address the needs and challenges of researchers and practitioners.

About the Program

Wiley AI Partnerships: A Co-Innovation Program is an initiative by Wiley, a global leader in scientific research publishing, aimed at accelerating the pace of research through AI. The program brings together Wiley’s trusted “knowledge system” - our world-class content, subject matter experts, society partnerships, and global research network, with leading AI developers, data services providers, and technology platforms. Together, we aim to rapidly co-innovate in the development of AI applications and agents that address real-world challenges for researchers and practitioners, transforming research across our strongest disciplines. Since its inception in 2024, the program has signed and launched multiple partnerships that showcase how AI, when combined with Wiley’s authoritative content, can transform research. These collaborations span scaled ecosystem integrations and co-developed applications:

  • Anthropic: Partnering to offer university researchers streamlined access to Wiley’s content through Anthropic’s Claude platform, with property attribution and citations, setting a new standard for responsible scholarly AI integration.
  • AWS: Wiley became the first scientific publisher to embed a full-text literature search agent in the AWS Healthcare & Life Sciences Agent Toolkit, enabling secure access to Wiley’s Life Sciences corpus within customers’ private AWS environments.
  • EVE: This partnership trained and co-developed ESA’s Earth Virtual Expert (EVE), powered by Wiley’s curated earth science corpus.
  • Perplexity: Partnering to make trusted Wiley research content discoverable inside Perplexity’s AI-powered search, extending the reach of authoritative knowledge into conversational search experiences.
  • Potato: Collaborating to launch a Wiley-powered AI protocols generator to accelerate lab workflows and experimentation for scientists.

Program goals

Wiley AI Partnerships: A Co-Innovation Program is built around four clear goals:

  • Transform the pace of research by delivering unparalleled efficiency, accuracy, in-the-moment insights, and evidence-based information. By leveraging Wiley’s authoritative content, internal subject matter experts, vast network of researchers, and society partnerships, we ensure that AI applications are deeply reliable, trusted, and value-creating for the research and development (R&D) process.
  • Scale our distribution network by embedding Wiley’s vertical-specific content within ecosystems, marketplaces, and AI applications, where researchers and corporate R&D teams already operate, ensuring broad adoption at scale.
  • Enhance and supplement our capabilities by co-innovating with leading AI application developers and data service providers, bringing together their technical expertise with Wiley’s knowledge system to accelerate the development of cutting-edge AI solutions.
  • Generate sustainable, recurring AI-related revenue streams while strengthening Wiley’s brand, influence, and competitive position within the global AI ecosystem.

Why partner with Wiley?

Wiley AI Partnerships: A Co-Innovation Program offers application developers a unique opportunity to partner with a publisher with a proud legacy spanning over 200 years. Our success has been built on continually looking forward: we have supported the creation and sharing of critical knowledge through many eras of technological development.

Wiley AI Partnerships: A Co-Innovation Program will work closely with partners to provide the best research content, go-to-market support, and opportunities to connect with a global research network:

  • High-Quality Research Content: An extensive library of peer-reviewed content ensures reliable and accurate AI applications.
  • Global Research Network: Strong relationships and a vast research network provide a solid foundation for collaboration and innovation.
  • Brand Strength: Enhances the credibility and reach of AI applications.
  • Go-to-Market Support: Robust support leveraging an extensive sales force for successful market entry and adoption.
  • Targeted incremental funding (in select cases)

Example use cases

The program will develop a variety of AI applications, including but not limited to:

Wiley's focus disciplines

Wiley is seeking partners that specialize in AI application development and have a strong focus on the following subject disciplines:

Partner selection approach and how to apply

Wiley AI Partnerships: A Co-Innovation Program is seeking the following types of partners:

  • Ecosystem integration partners: Scaled technology platforms and hyperscaler ecosystems that enable research customers to build AI solutions within secure, enterprise-grade environments. By integrating Wiley’s vertical-specific knowledge bases directly into their platforms, these partners help streamline agent development, ensure compliance and data security, and reach a dramatically-expanded audience by embedding our content within widely adopted ecosystems.
  • AI product development partners: Well-established AI developers with proven product development and customer distribution capabilities. By combining Wiley’s knowledge system with their AI models and application expertise, we jointly create commercial AI solutions tailored for R&D workflows.
  • Life sciences data services product partners: Partners with market-validated real-world data assets, advanced analytics capabilities, and data platform solutions collaborating to integrate scientific literature with technology to unlock new insights and accelerating preclinical R&D

Wiley will evaluate each partnership application against a clear set of criteria. Applicants should provide a concise, clearly structured one-page document that addresses the following:

  • Customer demand: Companies must demonstrate existing evidence of significant customer demand and traction within Wiley’s target verticals. Evidence may include material revenue from previously developed AI solutions or platforms. Applicants should also outline their current product offerings.
  • Company scale: Partners should have sufficient financial resources, infrastructure, and team capacity required to support a scaled collaboration.
  • Go-to-market reach: We seek partners with established, scaled distribution networks, and deep customer relationships capable of driving adoption of the co-developed solutions at scale.
  • Technical capabilities: Applicants must demonstrate vertical-specific AI expertise, including proven ability in agentic product development, infrastructure integration, and scaled development.
  • Partnership objectives: Applicants should clearly articulate the objectives, target customer segments, use cases/benefits, and desired outcomes of the proposed partnership. As well as an articulation of the joint contributions made by Wiley and the partner, including which specific elements of Wiley’s knowledge system (e.g., content set) will be leveraged, and what unique value the partner will bring.
